Center Parcs Woburn Forest | A weekend in the forest

It has become a tradition with my family to make a regular holiday to Center Parcs. I have grown up with the place, remembering one of my first visits to Longleat Forest when I was a youngster – I’m pretty sure I’ve been to Elveden Forest when I was a baby, but I can hardly remember that! It is one of my favourite places to visit and honestly, I will be taking this tradition with me (yes, I have converted my boyfriend into enjoying Center Parcs too!) In 2014, Center Parcs expanded their ‘portfolio’ of holiday villages by building a new one in the heart of Bedfordshire, now known as Woburn Forest. I was lucky enough to visit in it’s opening year (twice, I might add!) and to see how well it has expanded and grown is amazing. Despite the expensive nature of Center Parcs, you can’t deny that

Potential trip plans for 2018

I don't know about you but I can't wait for the theme park season to begin. It is even more exciting that in the UK, we have some new coasters coming our way too! In the meantime, I can start working on trip planning. Figuring out where I want to go, within reason of course. It's a bit crazy that 2018 is now here. Every year, it always flies by. Blink, and the year will be gone like that. So I am definitely looking forward to see where this year takes me. I would love to have the opportunity to travel abroad again, especially knowing that there are some new coasters opening this year. So, let’s crack on with my potential trip plans for this year! ALTON TOWERS Source WOOD. We wanted some wood at a UK park... and we are damn well getting it. If you haven't been keeping up with the latest n

Tackling Scare Mazes

I overthink. A lot! So, it is no surprise that I can get really nervous and uptight about doing scare mazes, especially new ones that I have never experienced before, even though I walk through them and absolutely love them! It is a bit of a contradiction but it is the fear of the unknown and overthinking that can get our adrenaline going whilst queuing for a scare maze. Some people have no fear when it comes to scare attractions whilst others will be completely nervous and have second thoughts about queuing. Never fear, I’ve come up with some helpful tips to help you with your nerves! #1: The actors are humans It’s easy to forget that you are effectively walking through an attraction with a bunch of actors covered in blood splatters and latex. You can easily forget they are human, just

Alton Towers Scarefest 2017

Scarefest is probably the one highlight of visiting Alton Towers in October. I really love the atmosphere on park and I find the scare attractions are just a fraction better than Thorpe Park – sorry Thorpe Park fans! I think with the scare mazes being inside the actual Towers, there is a natural darkness and the cold air really adds to suspense inside. And you don’t need to wait for it to get dark to visit the mazes unlike at Thorpe Park. Alton Towers are lucky they can use the Towers to their advantage when it comes to having scare attractions. This year, Alton Towers have added a new addition to their maze line-up with The Welcoming: Be Chosen. I was looking forward to experiencing this new attraction alongside the 3 mazes: Sub Species, Altonville Mine Tours: Skin Snatchers and Ter

Tulley’s Shocktober Fest 2017

Need to visit one of the UK’s top scare attractions. Check. Friday 13th October. Check. What better time to visit Tulley’s Shocktober Fest than on Friday 13th October? I was very much looking forward to visiting Tulley’s Shocktober Fest after hearing amazing reviews over the last few years. And I must say, I left Tulley’s last Friday wondering ‘How on earth did I not visit here sooner?’ (more…)

Thorpe Park Fright Nights 2017

It’s that spooky time of year again, where theme parks prepare the scares and dress up their parks with pumpkins and spooky filled lighting. Thorpe Park is no exception and it was very nice to visit the park for their Fright Nights media event. This year is different for the park as they have teamed up with AMC to produce 2 new scare attractions to their line-up, The Walking Dead: Living Nightmare and The Walking Dead: Sanctum. Also back this year for Fright Nights is The Big Top - a firm favourite among many enthusiasts, Platform 15 which was new for last year and SAW Alive. Overall, I must say I was impressed with the whole event. Once the sun goes down, the park really does take on a new atmosphere in the dark. It was nice to see more lighting rigs around the park as well as smoke e

Scarefest 2013 continued…

After a nice-ish night at the Vane, I was ready to set off for my second day at Alton Towers. Hopefully after the bad luck we endured on Saturday, we would have a better day on park. Well… The day started off alright. We set off towards the Dark Forest to ride Thirteen. The queue went quite quickly and pretty soon there was a TST takeover on one of the trains. It was time for ‘lunch’ so a small group of us headed off towards Carnival so we could get that maze done. And I have to say it was definitely a great improvement than last year, especially with the finale. After this we headed off towards the Smiler to mooch around and wait for the 2.30pm meet up outside TOTT. This was where the whole group, out of the kindness of Pete Cliff, got on the maze, even those who didn’t have maze ticket

Scarefest 2013

What a weekend! I am finally home after what has been a very interesting and explosive weekend. Let me take you back to what happened during the weekend. Saturday morning. I got up extremely early. Excitement was kicking in but I guess having an early night makes you get up early. Really early – 6am. I decided to stay up as I knew it would be difficult for me to get back to sleep. Got myself ready and set off for the local Tesco so I could top up my petrol ready for Monday. So all was going well. I arrived at Towers around 8.45am and walked down to the entrance plaza where I was met with long queues already. This was the first sign that the park was going to be busy. Once the gates opened and we were let through the turnstiles, I power walked down towards the Box Office so I could pick
